Falling Star 01:46
As I watched a falling star shoot through the air Everyone stopped and everyone stared The sky turned dark and the clouds turned black I wish that I could turn the clock back To a time when I didn't have to run and hide From human cruelty on the streets outside Gun shots - my heart stops Left alone with my feelings locked inside This is our area, the place we call home These are the tales of Thames Ward

God Knows 02:07
My teeth no longer fill my mouth My eyes are not so clear My limbs and bones are swollen too But I'm glad I still can hear My hair has lost its shine of youth My voice would love to sing But through it all, my God is near And help will always bring God knows each step I take The future may be strange I have no fear, I'm in his hands God knows I am

People come together Different voices, different times Make the heart happy Sing it loud, sing it loud Throw a stone in the pond Come along and sing a song A lovely place to be, A lovely place to be

about

Writer Zoe Palmer and musician Sam Glazer spent the summer of 2014 exploring the Thames Ward in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. They met talented and inspiring people of all ages and backgrounds, from the traditional communities at Bastable Avenue to the new estates growing around the Rivergate Centre. This rich album of songs and stories, collected and created with local peoples, is a reflection of life in the area at this moment in time.

The project was a neighbourhood commission from Creative Barking and Dagenham, funded by Arts Coucil England and the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and managed by Creative Futures.
